To promote and showcase the Jura's rich natural heritage JURASSICA works with a network of major partners and collaborates with various institutions on joint projects.
REPUBLIC AND CANTON OF JURA
The Republic and Canton of Jura is JURASSICA's main partner and biggest financial support. The canton's government has mandated JURASSICA with bringing together and managing all infrastructure dedicated to the Jura's natural heritage, whether through the conservation of collections (relating to natural science, paleontology or archeology), research or the dissemination of knowledge to all.
PORRENTRUY MUNICIPAL COUNCIL
Porrentruy Municipal Council is the second biggest partner of JURASSICA. Council funding has enabled the completion of two projects: the renovation of the Local Flora and Fauna exhibition, and the acquisition of a copy of the Big Al Two skeleton. A new visitor concept for the Botanical Garden will also be unveiled in 2020 thanks to the financial support provided by the Council. Porrentruy also helped to set up the academic unit (auxiliary geoscience service).
STATE SECRETARIAT FOR EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND INNOVATION (SERI)
The JURASSICA Museum is also home to an academic, the auxiliary geoscience service (SSAG). A collaboration with the Department of Geosciences at the University of Fribourg, this academic unit is funded by SEFRI, the Canton of Jura and Porrentruy Municipal Council.
University of Fribourg
The Department of Geosciences of the University of Fribourg is home to scientists who are internationally renowned for their research into many areas of earth science. It also has a long tradition as a centre of excellence for paleontology. The university has a track record providing scientific support for Jura paleontology through its involvement in the work of the Paleontologie A16 project and its assistance in developing the JURASSICA institution.
Marthe & Gottfried Keller Foundation
The Marthe & Gottfried Keller Foundation was created in 1989. From the outset, its mission has been to support the development of the Jura Natural Science Museum in Porrentruy by funding the conservation and expansion of natural science collections as well as research work and publications. The JURASSICA Museum, the successor to the Jura Natural Science Museum, enjoys the same support from the Marthe & Gottfried Keller Foundation.
TALENTISLAB
The tourism role of JURASSICA chimes perfectly with the promotion of the Jura as a touristic destination, so much so that natural-science-related tourism projects are run in partnership with Jura Tourisme.
TalentisLAB is working with JURASSICA to create a new tourist attraction called "Valley of the Dinosaurs" between Porrentruy and Réclère. The backbone of the project will be a new sustainable transport link between the centers, with innovative mobility solutions running along a scenic route. It will showcase the area's paleontological and natural heritage, preserved and presented by JURASSICA and Réclère Prehistoric Park.
