Since JURASSICA is also a museum and centre for palaeontology, before they take a closer look at the living world of the plants on display in our greenhouses, visitors can first see our short exhibition on the evolution of plants and how they came to be on every continent. One of the key stages in the evolution of plants was the development of the seed as a protective structure around the plant embryo, which enabled plants to spread all over the Earth. Many different kinds of fossilised plants and seeds are on show in the display case in the entrance hall.
