Jurassica Museum

Le Banné

The Banné hill above Porrentruy gives its name to a geological layer named the "Banné Marl" by renowned Swiss geologist Jules Thurmann. Accessible to all – from scientists and students to school children and tourists – these marls reveal the fossils of the invertebrates that populated the Jurassic sea some 152 million years ago.

Since 2013, an information pavilion and excavation area were created to give families and students the chance to try their hand at fossil hunting.
