Les Marais de Damphreux

The Damphreux Lakes and Marshes are just 7 km from Porrentruy. A large number of plants and animals can be observed in this important semi-natural wetland.

The rehabilitation of the Coeudres Lakes by the Damphreux Marshes Foundation (FMD) has enabled the protection of many species of plants, insects, amphibians, birds and mammals. Two observation hides with information panels have been erected on the site, which is an attractive resting place for birds.

At the end of 2018, an agreement was signed between JURASSICA and the FMD. The site has now joined JURASSICA’s other satellite sites as one of its tourist attractions. The FMD, which owns the lakes and marshlands, is responsible for managing the site, and JURASSICA uses it for birdwatching and botanical guided tours which are run and staffed by the Museum and the Damphreux Marshes Foundation.

The purpose of the agreement is to combine the expertise of the two institutions, and it also includes a botanical care programme operated by the gardens team.

Twice a year, JURASSICA organises a free birdwatching tour. For details, see our events diary.

School and group tours are available on request. Registration information and prices are at the following link.
